Blog post #4 - Text messaging… does it help or hinder a student?
I think text messaging is great. Haha, its convenient to be able to hold a conversation without actually having to say anything, so you can pretty much do it at anytime, such as in class or midnight. And you can have more than one conversation at one time which is pretty cool in my opinion. Also, some people would say its easier to put your thoughts onto paper, or in this case a screen, so you can say stuff you normally would feel weird saying. On average, I’d say that i send and recieve between 200-250 texts a day, this is why I quickly learned that i needed to upgrade to unlimited texting. I definately talk text more than I talk on a phone. But text messaging can also hinder a person’s ability to use correct spelling or grammar, such as u instead of you. Although these are incorrect, I dont think it is bad because you arent sending a formal writing over a text anyways. So yea, I do think text language does belong in our language because its just change, and everything changes.
